Six months ago a small team set out on a journey to meet people struggling to stay emotionally and physically healthy in the face of mounting debt, and to help them overcome that to build a healthier financial future. We called it Financially Naked, because we wanted to usher in a more radically honest and inclusive conversation about financial health.
The Myth of the Self Made Man who pulls himself up by his lonesome bootstraps is absolutely rubbish. It is steeped in thousands of years of traditional Platonic storytelling principles, and it is hurting society by creating hidden figures and partisan politics. We feature a couple where the wife is an engineer and primary breadwinner; we explore how spending more money on where you live can counterintuitively pull you out of a poverty trap; and we dig in on how to negotiate your salary with a hispanic man because women AND minorities face a pay gap. We go beyond entrepreneurship, skyrocketing marriage and student loan costs, and living with the realities of a chronic illness to explore how everyone, regardless of their individual backgrounds, can realize a healthier financial future.
In the face of all the uncertainty the world currently faces, I am certain of one thing...Financially Naked is going to fundamentally alter how we approach financial health and literacy. It's time for a more empathetic and honest approach to the realities millions of people face economically, so we can finally heal and embrace the reality that to build a better financial model - it takes a village. Now we need your help to ensure the world gets the message. Share the episodes and tag us with your thoughts! @GoBeyondLabs
